Guests of Amelia Island Plantation are in for a real fishing treat when they test their angling skills in the many stocked and natural bodies of water located on the property. In fact Amelia Island Plantation is claimed by many as a "Fisherman's Dream"!
You will find a variety of game fish in the many brackish lagoons on the property including largemouth bass, tarpon, snook, redfish, sunshine bass, catfish and bream.
Red Maple Lake is a 50-acre lake harboring freshwater bass weighing to over ten-pounds, sunshine bass to ten-pounds, catfish to twenty-pounds and two-pound class bream! Fishing is good all year round, with the best fishing coming during the spring and summer months. Live bait fishing is not permitted and catch and release fishing only.
The many saltier
Lagoons on the property harbor tarpon, snook and redfish. One of the more productive lagoons, is the long, narrow lagoon located on golf holes six, seven and eight on the "Oak Marsh" nine. All of the lagoons are catch and release, with no live bait fishing. Fly-fishing is very popular in these small bodies of water, which often harbor tarpon weighing up to twenty-pounds!
Aury Island is a great place to bring the children fishing for bream, catfish and bass. A large dock and play center is also located on the small lake for family enjoyment as well. Bait up a small piece of shrimp under a float and enjoy the fast fishing action. Everyone will catch fish in this well stocked lagoon!
