Amelia Island Fishing Club
The Amelia Island Fishing Club organizes several fishing outings throughout the fishing season, which gets underway with a freshwater bass fishing tournament during the spring. Last spring club members fished the trophy bass fishing waters at Bienville Plantation, where bass were caught and released up to 9-pounds!
During late spring club members get together for a bottom fishing trip on board the "Mayport Princess", which is a drift fishing boat docking at Monty's Marina on the St. John's River. Captain George Strait, skipper of the Mayport Princess, always shows our members a great day out on the water with lots of action for black sea bass, grouper, red snapper, cobia and more.
Amelia Island Fishing Club members get together during the summer for an offshore trolling trip out of the Fernandina Harbor Marina, with some of the local sport fishing boats. Great trolling action is normally enjoyed for king mackerel, cobia, amberjack, barracuda, spanish mackerel and the occasional sailfish.
During the fall fishing season club members get together for a surf fishing outing for blues, whiting, sea trout, redfish and flounder. This normally takes place at the southern tip of Amelia Island where running tides and sandbars attract good numbers of baitfish and game fish too!
Finally the season ends with the annual "Knox Wyatt Memorial Sea Trout Tournament". This is a one-day fishing tournament, which is followed by an awards dinner, held at Walker's Landing.
For more information on the Amelia Island Fishing Club, call the Amelia Angler Outfitters at (904) 261-2870. Annual family membership is still only $25.00!
